In the first, more theatrical part of the experience, you were invited to interact with the characters. Depending on your apprehensions, some parts were more striking than others. Some scenes were still disturbing, such as one in which a patient underwent an unexpected sex change, or an interminable dance with a contagious witch. As for the second part, it was completely horrifying! In total darkness, your little group had to make their way through the building’s dilapidated basement, using only a flashlight. The setting was inspired by a horror film in which you were the main character who had to get out of a terrifying basement alive. Hundreds of gloomy dolls, ravenous characters and corridors utterly panic-inducing for claustrophobics awaited you before the final room, where a corpse was blown up in your group’s face before they exited into the party.

A lot of blood, yes: whereas in 2016, participants had to don a bitch to protect their clothes, this edition proposed a simple hospital gown for protection. Contact was a little less frequent, too, for those who feared it. A heavily medicated nurse greeted customers and kept them waiting in the institute’s gloomy waiting room. A series of rooms, each more disjointed than the last, awaited you: a workout in the guts, extra gory cannibal-themed cuisine, “sexy” relaxation with the devil and much more. In fact, those uncomfortable with nudity got their money’s worth… What was striking along the way was the astonishing verisimilitude of the corpses that covered the premises. Hardly surprising when you consider that make-up artist FX Rémy Couture was behind them! Some of the bodies were so striking, you wondered if they weren’t made-up actors about to jump out at you any minute. Realism and an unforgettable experience were the hallmarks of Malefycia, a renowned producer of anxiety-inducing immersive journeys.
