Malefycia was created thanks to the passion of several people and the extraordinary ideas they shared. It’s as if fate had thrown everything necessary in its path to make this dream a reality.

2014

A puzzle piece by piece

Ever since he was a little boy, Mathieu “Cass” Surprenant has been fascinated by the world of horror. Back then, his basement was freshly decorated with strange dolls, instruments of torture, fake blood, figurines and an extensive collection of gory films. In 2010, he met his partner, who was just as fanatical about this universe, but from a more artistic point of view. Dominique Arganese, an artist, actress and model previously working in a freak show in Las Vegas, had a more theatrical vision of horror. She was more interested in fiction, the occult, supernatural and fantastic phenomena. This shared passion led them to decorate their home in October 2014, with Mathieu’s signature decor, earning them a “cover” in the Journal de Montréal and a visit from over 400 people on Halloween.

2015

Birth of Malefycia

After visiting an immersive theater in NYC, they came away inspired. Finding their career paths too atypical, they decided to go headfirst into business in the field they were both passionate about: horror fiction, eroticism and immersive theater. This perfect marriage and the meeting with 2 other associates gave birth to Malefycia. Aware of all the financial risks involved, they decided to pool their talents and, above all, their contacts (friends, family, volunteers) to make their dream a reality in 2015.

2017

The Pact

From the start, the aim of the immersive show was to take visitors on a ride through their fear, creating anxiety and fright, and taking them out of their comfort zone. There was definitely a clientele for it. It was a success. Despite criticism, pitfalls and planning errors, they continued the momentum into 2016, tripling the number of tickets sold. Unfortunately, differences of vision between the partners caused the former Malefycia team to split up.

In July 2017, a chance meeting with the dynamic young team, LANF, would rekindle the flame that had animated them. Finally, the couple had discovered the most motivated team and the missing piece of their puzzle. The key to a company’s success.

2023

Malefycia in Miami

After several years of event production experience, it’s time to export. Malefycia produced last year’s “6AME” show in Miami. Malefycia has made a name for itself internationally. The team has also proven itself when it comes to the immense logistics involved in producing two simultaneous events, one of them in the USA. From the construction of the route, to the transportation of sets and employees, the logistics behind it were a major challenge successfully met.
